Don’t Ask

Don’t ask me about the time or the place.

Don’t ask about when or where.

Don’t ask me who can and don’t ask me who will be there.

Don’t ask me to call so and so.

Don’t ask me to follow up with them

This is a devastating time

I don’t care about next to kin

Don’t ask me are the arrangements made

Don’t ask me about the preacher or the church

All that I know right now is this pain hurts.

Don’t ask me about the last moments

Don’t ask me about the last thing that was said.

The only thing I know right now is my mama is dead.

Don’t ask me about my feelings

Don’t ask me what you can do

If you can’t bring her back to me, then just let me be blue.

I will never get over this, right now ALL the colors are gray.

The longest person I’ve known in my life did not live to see another day.

So, I will cry till I can’t anymore or I will cry until I won’t

I’m sure I will smile again, but right now…that thought is a joke.

Time heals most wounds and I am sure this time will pass

But until then...PLEASE, don’t ask.
